Summit Valley is a regional park in Utica, New York, rooted in the civic and industrial character of the Mohawk Valley. Warm brick, dark-green roofs, black steel, and a little antique gold give the park its own sense of place.
Guests arrive through Summit Station, our historic railroad-station-inspired entrance, and step onto Genesee Street. At the far end, the Baxter fountain and Valley Wheel mark the heart of the park’s central view.
1999 · A first Peak Day.
Summit Valley opens in Utica. Baxter the Beaver becomes a familiar face in park-day photos and local memories.
2026 · The next chapter.
New ownership brings a renewed focus on restoration, staffing, and the return of familiar favorites. The work is about more than opening gates. It’s about giving the valley a place to make new memories.
Big thrills. Local roots.
Summit 315 carries the Central New York area code into the skyline. Half Moon Bakery and Utica tomato pie keep local flavor in the day. Empire Theater gives a signature show a home. And Baxter is still Baxter: a beaver with a hard hat and plenty of hometown heart.
